My Kinda Town

With Thanks to the New York Times Travel section , I have some examples of why this is my or should I say, Our Kind of Town.
This is the Algodon Mansion ... Hotel.
We go to the bakery nearby, we go to the ice cream parlor around the corner, it is an amazing place , on an amazing street in an amazing city.
I think I might like to live there, up there, top floor, yeah, they left the light on for me !

This is an example of a shop in Palermo Soho.
Whatever you need, if it is Trendy and (probably expensive), great looking and not exactly like anything they have "back home", this is the place to shop.
This is an apartment building in my neighborhood.
I live in a building similar in age and style, they went all crazy for the French back at the turn of the century ... so there are many wonderful French style buildings all over town .. mine was built in 1924 .. mi gusta.
This will give you an idea of the size of the place and how nice some of the parks are.
This is Palermo .. good shopping, nice place to live , huge barrio.
Recoleta boasts a number of huge parks and gardens also .. you can't go wrong if you stay / or live in either neighborhood .

And if you feel like shopping, this will give you some ideas .. Rossi Caruso .. click on Products .. see if you can just pick one ! ( impossible) ...
So here you have a tiny idea of why I Heart Buenos Aires... it is my kind of town ~

A Little Change Will Be Nice

This is sort of what my home looks like. Colors are the same, high ceilings, there is a dog on the floor . I need to go to the Flea Market and get some more French-ish pieces to put here and there. A little Change here and there will be nice.
I would love to change the kitchen light to a chandelier but we have this Art Deco light that is a piece of art and so it must remain where it is .. I think maybe I will put a chandelier in the bathroom, it is the only room without one. I do like this kitchen. I should move , I have so many decorating ideas to try out..the change will be nice!
Now this is possible ! and my floors look much better than these!
I have been shopping a lot lately.
I love this look.
I am quite happy with a 99% black wardrobe.. it saves me from all those pesky decisions, you know, what should I wear this color with ?

I Heart .... Argentina Design

Things are a bit different here.
Like dogs having their own umbrellas..well, sort of .

and squeezing furniture into every bit of space and doing it well.

And just shopping and discovering ...

TGIF & Wishing

The Old Westbury Gardens in New York.
Looking out my window at the grey rainy streets of the city, I am Wishing I could click my heels together and spend the day in Old Westbury.
Perhaps a picnic by the lake ?

Snuggle in ...

Winter is coming where we live.
Time to find soft cozy things to warm up and cheer up the house.
Good spots to snuggle into when reading a book.

I think I might like to copy this room velvet , moody.
This is a great poster, it would remind me of my daughter every time I look at it .

But then this room is full of light for those grey winter days when the concrete and granite and old buildings all looks so dreary.
I must go do more research .. have another cup of tea .. maybe take a nap.
Hmmm Pia Jane Bijkerk ..a cozy spot to snuggle in and read or nap, no?

Sweet Dreams

With a bed like this, who needs anything else in the room ?
With such views, how easy would it be to fall asleep ?

I guess I have to put beams on the bedroom ceiling. This is such a cozy room !

I like the idea of the two mirrors instead of one big one, this is good for a small room. I think this will work nicely in my guest bedroom .

A Green Place

Thanks to the New York Times, I have gone from daydreaming about an apartment in Paris to imagining myself in a house , out in the countryside.
Having tea in a glass house would suit me just fine.

To be, once again, offered views from all the windows of green and growing things, is so very appealing.
To sit in a chair, lie in a hammock, or have something like this built just for daydreaming in the garden .. heavenly.

I imagine I would sleep like a baby in a house in the country.
Are there cars honking ?
Are there people shouting out in the street ?
Are the neighbors coming in too late, with too much noise ?
I think not.

I think I would quickly adjust to the sight of rolling green hills over the buildings across the street.
While they are very beautiful and I love to look at them, I would definitely swap the sight of them for a few trees and some sky.

Yes, it might just be time to start thinking about Green places again.

Pull up a Chair!

I thought I wanted a Thonet Rocking Chair for the living room. I can find them in the Flea Market here, in good shape. . and affordable.

But then I look at magazines and design blogs like Crush and I waver ... I am losing my ability to make decisions.

Thoughts on a Lazy Sunday

What better to do on a very cold ,lazy Sunday than to stay in and read Design blogs ?
This kitchen is from House of Fifty
I think I could live with this .. if I got around on roller skates, it does look a bit large, doesn´t it ?
Maybe I will be happier with something like this , from 1st Option
Maybe I will just consider a cook or take away.. All that moving and shopping might be exhausting.
Now to convince the Husband that a Cook is a good idea.. sigh...

Winter

My bedroom still looks like Summer is going on outside the windows. There is no special warm throw across the bed, to invite a cozy nap or a warm spot while reading ..
I have to do something about that . Today was quite chilly and the days to come will only get colder. Winter is here.
I was tired of summer. Long , long days that were too warm, too much sun, too much trying to avoid the sun, uncomfortable walks in parks with panting warm pups .. it was enough, time to put it away for a few months and have some Fall and Winter.
Fall has been fabulous. There are still leaves on the trees, many golden or brown but it is not bare and forlorn yet. .. but suddenly, it is cold.
Winter cold.

Winter ...
"There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you....
In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself."

A Change of Seasons

Autumn is here and I like it !
Cool days, chilly nights, leaves on the ground, the scent of wood smoke in the air at night when walking home from a restaurant.
Soon enough it will be Winter and I will grumble now and then about the cold or the dreariness but right now, the crisp Autumn air is invigorating and smells good too !

When winter comes, the house gets it´s cold weather things on also.
An old gold colored Chenille throw big enough for 2 and a pup, goes on the sofa.
Down comforters come out of storage and into their pretty covers and onto the bed , which suddenly looks very large and puffy ! after a summer of looking sleek and smooth.

Rug shopping, window covers and some new mirrors are on the agenda.
Flea markets this weekend, perhaps an antique shop or two also.
Then to chase the chill away, a visit to a favorite Brasserie for dinner one night .

A Change of Seasons is good, shakes things up a bit, gets us out of our rut, our doldrums and gives us something to think about besides worries..
