Round windows, floor tiles like a rug, antique lighting in kitchens and baths and mirrors ..
Thanks to Tumblr, I have a never ending supply of design and decor ideas ..
There are things that a person just can't say. But they need to be said. Dear Diary ... this is where I am going to say whatever I feel like saying.
This is where I get to say anything I feel like saying and you get to agree with me.
We will also share stories and chocolate if you have any.
Naps are also encouraged, if shopping is out of the question.

R.I.P. Nora Ephron
“When your children are teenagers, it’s important to have a dog so that someone in the house is happy to see you.”

Paris is always a Good Idea
"Whoever does not visit Paris regularly, will never be really elegant."
Honore de Balzac
I wouldn't go so far as to say one can never really be elegant if they have not been to Paris regularly but I can say that it might make one more elegant if they get to visit, even once.

Privacy
Our home has French doors and windows .. only the bathroom and the laundry room have solid doors.
This means that there is always light in all the rooms and it makes the rooms feel larger , it also means I have to have something to cover the windows when it gets dark, light, we need privacy etc.
Sheer panels work in the doors to each room but the best thing about living here, privacy wise, is the Shutters !
Every door ( living room balcony, bedroom balcony) and all the windows have metal shutters. That lock.
So we are able to not only be private but we are safer.
When we go back to the US and we are in our new home, I am considering this , for any French doors that we might have. Or just for windows , security and privacy-wise.
What do you think ?

What will they think of next ?
I have been known to be a bit snarky, a bit vocal in my remarks on the way I feel about using deer antlers or heads or even skins in home decorating.
I know some people have no problem with it, perhaps a few of them just never thought about it.
I want my homes to reflect beauty, grace and comfort.
There should be a feeling of peace and relaxation.
A sense of humour and plenty of places to dream and admire the view , whether the view is art on the wall or big windows.
The view in my home would never be something dead.
"Art" to me is not putting a dead thing on a wall. That old hunting room full of trophy heads is so much a thing of the past .. for a good reason.
I know many people, not sure of themselves when it comes to decorating, follow trends.
Some maybe a bit blindly... magazines grab a fad and show it to death ( pardon the pun).
So you can guess how sick I am of seeing homes, where people ( often with children) live and love, with dead animals heads on their walls.
The deer population in the US must be quite low now.
Imagine my dismay, my surprise, my mocking remarks that were kept to myself .. when I saw a room in a home where people live and laugh and love ... with a huge buffalo head on the wall.

Someones in the Kitchen
Not long ago, I saw a kitchen like this with trees and gardens out the window.
That would work for me.
I just love the mix of textures and old and new .
What is a kitchen without a cat on the counter?
I particularly like the blackboard wall.

Lead Me Down the Garden Path
While I enjoy living in this wonderful city , my thoughts keep drifting to the next place.
Dreams of gardens and flowers and places to sit and contemplate life's little pleasures occupy my mind.
While I walk city streets and sidewalks, my mind lingers on the idea of a garden path.
I see walls here, buildings, enclosed homes and places I cannot see because of their walls. And I imagine having my own wall, with my own Garden inside..

In the Bath
Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in one's bath like a lump of sugar.
