I Love New York

Where I live now, we are still in Winter but looking forward to Spring in a couple of months .. it has been a long and cold ( to me ) winter and while I love winter here, I am looking forward to wearing less coats and sweaters and I am sure my husband is looking forward to hearing less complaints about how cold I am..
Don't tell him but around December , January, he will be pretty sick of hearing how hot I am .. he can't win ~
But when the winter here draws to a close and Spring is on the way, I think of New York ... Autumn in New York and I get very homesick.

This is the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, New York.
Since my son and daughter were little kids, we would drive "Upstate" to pick apples, picnic on the grounds of the Mansion and later when the children were grown, we would go for weekends, just the two of us, staying in hotels in the area and in the winter, staying in an Inn where there was a huge fireplace in the lobby, the pub was from the 1700's part of the building and we slept like babies in a huge four poster bed.

So while my thoughts turn towards Spring and shopping for Summer clothes and maybe plans for summer trips or excursions, they still wander back to those times when we would wander around the grounds of a mansion, with views of the Hudson River and picnic on the ground, covered with Fall leaves.
I Love New York even while I am Loving Buenos Aires..

I live on the island cut off from the upstate of my childhood. Only a few miles realy but it may as well be a thousand plus. I see it from the memory that dates to the 50s,the sights, the smells in the air. The farm we once lived in if only for a few months of the years it was what and still do call home. Fortunate that I have my youngest child in S U N Y New Paltz and have cause to drive home. My daughter drove to see her boy freind who lives near Palmyra and some how drove past two villages I knew well,Ellenville and Margaretville where in times long past the Family owned land now gone and she wrote,Ellenville looks poor and the later was damaged by floods. She could not see what I see,in my day they were doing well, then the Dairy industry collapsed and it all went poor. Still you can see she went on,that the mountains and the forests are so lovely. I remember very well but I wonder at my age could I take a N Y winter,.I wonder for what I want to do most of all is return to live there

Real estate excesses of the past decade have ruined many of those small towns, all over the Northeast. It is sad, I remember when I first arrived in NY .. I was 19 .. we went to an Inn and played tennis surrounded by mountains covered in beautiful autumn colors, I immediately fell in love.
Now it is more like a dream of a place rather than a real place anymore.
I hope you can return to live there ..
