This is where I get to say anything I feel like saying and you get to agree with me.
We will also share stories and chocolate if you have any.

Yesterday

This is the way my neighborhood looked yesterday.
Today it is all grey. The rain is falling, everything is wet and bedraggled and losing color fast.
The sky is grey , now there are just naked trees standing there .. the roads are slick with wet leaves.

It is a good day to order Things online and watch foreign movies  .

November

The stripped and shapely
  Maple grieves
The loss of her
  Departed leaves.

The ground is hard
  As hard as stone.
The year is old,
  The birds are flown.

And yet the world,
  Nevertheless,
Displays a certain
  Loveliness ---

The beauty of
  The bone. Tall God
Must see our souls
  This way , and nod.

Give thanks; we do,
  Each in his place
Around the table
  During grace.

The To Do List for a Trip to Paris

Walk  along the Seine in Autumn,
Having the first cup of cafe au lait in the morning,  looking at the view ...
Taking a walk with the camera ready ...
Making reservations for dinner at a neighborhood restaurant...
Explain to her again, why she can't come with me ...

If People Were More Like Cats

Modern industrial agriculture, which is dominated by factory farms is so far removed from actual farming, that even including the word “farm” to describe it is a misnomer.
Unlike actual farms, most of the animals living in today’s meat factories never get to see the grass or the sun.
From the time, they are born they are removed from their mothers and deprived of even the most basic expressions of love.
They grow up indoors in warehouses or in crowded, muddy runs, living their whole lives chained and standing in puddles of their own filth, literally waiting to die.
If they are lucky, they will be fed a reasonably nutritious diet before being shipped off to slaughter, while the unlucky ones will be fed fillers, hormones, antibiotics and even the dead remains of their own kind.
Dairy cows have the added indignity of being artificially inseminated, experiencing pregnancy and anticipating motherhood over and over again, only to have their calves taken away after birth.
There is nothing farm-like about it. It is a gruesome expression of the human dominance that is destroying this planet.

Most cats, by comparison, enjoy a different type of existence, overall. They are a one of a kind species, in that they are the only domestic animal that humans have not found a way to enslave. We keep them in our homes for companionship, mainly, and if we’re lucky, they’ll keep the mice away. Cats were worshiped as gods back in ancient Egypt, and it seems as though they still hold on to a bit of that nobility. Today most cats, even house pets, manage to enjoy some level of independence in their lives. How ironic then, that the independent cat in this photo is choosing to spend its day giving love to cows!
Studies have shown cows to be highly intelligent creatures with excellent problem-solving abilities, complex social structures and a deeply emotional connection to the world around them. Cows have excellent memories and reach out for the love of their human handlers. They too were considered sacred among the ancients. While the Hindu people once found them divine because of their docile dispositions and willingness to share milk, they are now being exploited for those very same qualities.
This photo of the sweet cat offering the cows some love shows us that that these two very different species are not that different when it comes to the need to be loved. The sad reality, however, is that the cat will possibly live out her life experiencing the love and respect of human beings and the dairy cows will be used as nothing more than a commodity.

Creamy Egg Topped Linguine

Creamy Egg-Topped LinguineServes 4
-¼ pound pancetta, cut into ½-inch cubes
-1 medium leek, cleaned, trimmed, halved, and cut crosswise into ½-inch slices
-½ cup heavy cream
-½ cup grated Parmesan
-½ pound linguine
-salt and freshly ground pepper
-4 large eggs
Place pancetta in a skillet and sauté over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring often, until fat is rendered and pancetta is crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Set pancetta onto a paper towel lined plate. Discard fat from pan, reserving 2 tablespoons for cooking.
Add 1 tablespoon fat and leeks to pan; cook until leeks begin to soften, about 3 minutes. Add pancetta, cream, and cheese to pan. Meanwhile, cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain pasta and add ¾ cup of the pasta cooking liquid to the sauce. Bring to a simmer, stirring, until sauce is thickened and coats the back of a spoon, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add the pasta to the cream sauce and stir to coat.
Heat a skillet with reserved fat over medium heat. Fry an egg for each plate of pasta.

It is too hot to cook so I get recipes and save them for Autumn.

ReInstate Bryce Casavant

Saved Baby bears, Lost his job

Conservation Officer Bryce Casavant has been suspended without pay pending a performance investigation after he refused to put down two bear cubs this weekend.
These baby bears, a brother and sister, were orphaned after their mother had to be destroyed after she had, at least twice, broken into a freezer of salmon and deer meat inside a mobile home on Hardy Bay Road, "through no fault of the owner." “Although it is unlikely the mother was in town due to the fire, it is hard to know,” said Casavant.
On July 5, Casavant and members of the Port Hardy Fire Department literally pulled out all stops to rescue the babies who had come back to the property and were up a tree calling for their mother.
“They (firefighters) had their high-angle rescue specialist scale the tree and rappel down on top of the bears to lower them to me. I then tranquilized them by hand,” said Casavant.
The babies were estimated to be about eight weeks and weigh 20 to 25 pounds, are healthy and still nursing.
Please sign this petition to show your support to have Bryce Casavant reinstated as conservation officer to the North Island.

And this happens in the United States ...

homeless-man-fallen-on-hard-times-refuses-to-surrender-his-senior-dog-to-shelter

Makes a person ashamed that there are even people or organizations out there that would do this.
These people operate on money given to them by the public or by the government, do they have the right to make such rules and or have this sort of "power" ?

If so then there is a great need for a big change .

Get the word out- maybe someone in the area can help this man with his sweet dog.

Thoughts on (a new) Home

My sofa from Buenos Aires is getting to be too old.
I have to decide if I should fix it or buy a new one. Grey velvet is very appealing. or Gold velvet.
A cozy chair and windows is sometimes all you need.
I would never need to leave this room, it has everything I need.

This might work in Florida. All that White.
If I lived in Paris, the view would be all that I cared about . Who cares what color the sofa is ?

Take A Seat

Light filled rooms just appeal so much.
Blue Velvet ... perfect.
Now this color I would definitely want .. the dog too.
A perfect spot for a perfect seat to daydream .. or read .. or hold a baby ... or hold a kitten.

Baby laughs at potato chips

I would just sit all day and eat potato chips if I were her mama.

Friday, March 13, 2015

Yes, please ....

When you sit around a house all the time, snowbound, in a frozen land, where there is really no place to go anyway, you start to spend a lot of time on the computer.
My life has been Kindle, Computer, Kitten ... and sometimes Cookies.
This is not particularly a Bad Thing ... as long as we don't go overboard with the Cookies part.

I want to do something and there is really nothing to do .
The house is clean, looks good, appealing to House Hunters and if they get through the snow to look at it, they will like it.
So far, all who have been here, do like it.

Now I am collecting photos from websites for House Decorating and Whatever.
My new favorite websites for this are found    online and on tumblr .
Lonny  ...

I would not be unhappy with that bedroom at all.
Or this, although Light walls are my preference.
What are yours ?
This would do nicely in a new home somewhere .. anywhere !
I don't care where I live, this kitchen is a must ..

Yes Please !!
