And now for something Completely Different

Excerpts from an Interview with
Charles Saatchi
Art Collector
Husband of Nigela Lawson
( I really admire both of them)

* People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it’s safer to harass rich women than a motorcycle gang.

* As the old saying goes, all anybody needs to know about prizes is that Mozart never won one.

* Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

* Trying to make the world a better place is usually the province of those who want to feel good about themselves.
So I may be a disappointing person in many ways, but at least I have never fostered grand designs for social engineering.....

*Meaning well is not the same as doing good.

When asked about why he rarely attended his own Art show openings, he was quoted as saying :  "I don't go to other people's openings, so I extend the same courtesy to my own."

Q- You seem dismissive of art experts, curators and critics, is this based on arrogance or experience?

A- For 47 days in 1961, Matisse's Le Bateau was hanging upside down in theMuseum of Modern Art in New York City.
None of the  34 curatorial staff or 280 art critics noticed.
The mistake was discovered by Genevieve Hubert, a stockbroker.

I especially loved "trying to make ......about themselves"

OMYGOSH!! Loved his answer and reference to Matisse's Le Bateau - when responding to his thoughts of art critics, curators, etc.

That is so funny about the painting... and reafirms what I think about a lot of the people who pontificate on the subject
